Storms To Co. Tyrone Championship Victory
The annual
2009 Co. Tyrone 8Ball Championships played in the Over 40’s & Open categories
took place at the weekend past (Friday 12th & Saturday 13th
June) in the famous Gervin’s Snooker & Pool Club Coalisland Co. Tyrone........

Brendan
Mc Donagh (Tyrone, runner-up) and John Mc Mahon (Cavan)
These two tournaments once again
produced top class action and attracted top players from north and south of
the border to his great venue which was the home of top snooker tournaments
over the years as well as local players Dennis Taylor and Harry Morgan representing
the clubs name on the world stage with Dennis going on to be crowned World
Professional Snooker Champion........

Once again N. Ireland’s superb 8ball pool player Ronan McCarthy produced another
dazzling display to be crowned 2009 Co. Tyrone Open 8Ball Champion defeating
a number of top tour players on route to victory including 2007 European 8Ball
Pool Champion Stephen Dempsey (Cavan) in the ¼-finals......

Both players was playing at the
top of there game which seen Stephen miss a pretty easy black to level the
match at 4-4 but Ronan stepped in to clear up his remaining 6 balls in fine
style to progress to the semi-finals where he went on to defeat the number
3 seed Manny Byrne (Down) and then defeated the tours number 1 seed Brendan
Mc Donagh (Tyrone) in the final to be crowned 2009 Co.Tyrone Open 8Ball Champion
adding another ranking tournament title to his impressive CV.........….

These Over 40’s 8Ball Pool Tournaments
on Ireland’s Pub Players 8Ball Pool Tour is starting to turn into popular
events as well as avery high standard, with all tournaments starting to attract
more entries to there competitions and that was proved at the weekend past
when the 2009 Co. Tyrone Over 40’s 8Ball Championship was staged on Friday
night (Friday 12th June) with the quality line-up that took part including
alot of new players.......

The four players that reached the semi-finals of the 2009 Co. Tyrone Over
40’s 8Ball Championship LtoR:
Gerry Campbell (Omagh, runner-up), Billy Gorman (Belfast),
Brian Crilly (Bangor, winner) and Kieran Kelly (Coalisland)
The tournament was won by another fantastic cue-sport player Brian Crilly
who hails from Bangor, Co. Down who put in some brilliant performances round
after round to clinch the title with victories over Frank Fay (last-16, 4-0),
Ronnie Boyle (¼-Finals, 4-2), Billy Gorman (semi-finals, 5-1) and Gerry Campbell
(final, 6-3).....

The tournament also attracted top
snooker players who was title contenders in major tournaments over the years
on the green baize which included former World Professional Snooker Player
Harry Morgan, regular 100-plus break player Kieran Kelly as well as former
Tyrone individual snooker champion Gerry Campbell who reached the final, with
Gerry putting in great performances to record victories over Mark Graham (last-16,
4-2), Seamus Mc Aedle (¼-finals, 4-1), Kieran Kelly (semi-finals, 5-3) only
to be defeated by the inform Brian Crilly from Co. Down who was worthy champion.........
